Tony Beard joined Tozers as a trainee so has more than 30 years' continuous service in the firm. In 1986 he took over the caravan park connection at the same time as assisting a fellow partner to open the firm's Exeter office. 20 years have flown by happily representing the park owning fraternity large and small. Joined by Peter Edwards in 1989, the duo have taken more cases to the Court of Appeal than any other Exeter firm (unofficial Tozers' figures) and won an appeal in the House of Lords.
With the growth of the sector, the team has grown to include three litigators and two property lawyers and Tony now spends his days buying and selling parks, giving planning and site licensing advice and advising the BHHPA on strategic issues such as legislative consultations, Bills in Parliament and the like. He is a regular speaker at BHHPA conferences and seminars. Most significant case in 2007 has been winning a planning appeal in Northumberland to take the numbers on a park from 250 to 600 after a four day public inquiry.
Outside work his interests are walking Dartmoor and the SW coast and he intends to return to sailing when time permits and to tackle some of the long-distance paths of Europe.
