Vernon Clarke graduated from Oxford in 1983 and has been a partner with Tozers since 1989 and is head of the firm's Private Client department. He is a  property lawyer with charity and agricultural specialisms to his bow and is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  In addition, Vernon belongs to the Country Land & Business Association and the Agricultural Law Association. He acts for property developers  as well as a number of institutional property owning charities, and high net worth individuals.  Recent projects have included the acquisition and disposal of country estates, sporting rights, fishing lakes, holiday letting businesses, farms,  mobile home parks,  and retail and industrial units.

Married with a teenage daughter, Vernon lives in the South Hams.  An enthusiast of country pursuits, he is a keen fisherman and conservationist and keeps a small flock of Soay Sheep.

Active in the voluntary sector, he is a former Chairman of Exeter Historic Buildings Trust and presently serves as a trustee of Devon Wildlife Trust and Dawlish Gardens Trust. Vernon is also the honorary solicitor for the Friends of Mardon Hospital and a trustee for Emmaus Exeter, a charity for the homeless. Vernon regularly plays veteran soccer, and also enjoys tennis, target rifle shooting and skiing. He also has a passion for motorcycling.
