As one of the oldest law firms in the county, we understand the importance of planning for the future. Each year, we aim to recruit at least 2 high calibre trainee solicitors to help us to continue to expand and develop new and existing practice areas.
We pride ourselves on a friendly, supportive, relaxed working environment whilst ensuring the upmost commitment to the highest professional standards. Unlike many other law firms, we understand the importance of work-life balance and we aim to recruit interesting and enthusiastic people who make the most of living and working here in the south west.
We have a strong commercial base in Exeter with other offices in Teignmouth and Newton Abbot.
Structure of training contract
We recognise that investing in trainees is invaluable to the future of the firm. Training contracts are overseen by a partner with special responsibility for trainees. All trainee solicitors cover at least 3 and often 4 major areas of law and if there is an area in which they ultimately wish to specialise, they may return to that for their final seat.
Our trainees receive day to day supervision from a designated partner who appraises experience gained and progress made. A "buddy" is also assigned to new trainees who will provide assistance throughout the training contract and act as a first point of call. Our trainees are, however, expected to take an active role in their own training experience and make the most of all the opportunites on offer to them.
The firm ensures that trainees meet SRA requirements including attendance on the Professional Skills Course.
Salary and benefits
Trainee salaries are reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that they are in excess of law society recommendations.
Tozers offer a pension scheme.
