Surgical errors causing patient admissions

"Clearly this is extremely concerning news. Patients expect, and are entitled to, the highest standards of medical care in the UK and, fortunately, the majority of the time they receive it. These alarming figures for the South West, however, fall far below an acceptable level of care. A 47% increase in people having organs cut or punctured during surgery in the last year leading to 2,817 admissions that would not otherwise have been necessary is a trend that must be addressed.
