Tozers LLP helps Will Aid Campaign to beat past records

Despite the credit crunch and severe economic downturn, local law firm Tozers LLP joined solicitors all over the UK who volunteered to give their time and skill during November 2008 to write Wills with no fee to raise money for the 9 Will Aid charities. Early indications show that this campaign was the most successful for years.

Will Aid regulars Tozers, raised well over £1,000 through their offices in Exeter, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot. Head of private client department, Vernon Clarke said that Will Aid was a very positive experience for his firm: "Our Will Aid clients were very pleased that Tozers was participating and many said they were surprised and impressed that solicitors would prepare Wills in this way and promised legacies to the Will Aid charities. This will help to ensure that the charities' vital work can continue to make a real and immediate difference to the lives of people in need in the UK and around the world."

Shirley Marsland, Will Aid campaign manager said: "We are grateful to all those members of the public who were motivated to make their Will with Will Aid and, of course, to our solicitors. They consistently exceed our expectations and are a wonderful example of what can be achieved with hard work and enthusiasm. The money they have raised will be put to work by the Will Aid charities to transform the lives of children, families and the elderly in need around the world. To date, more than £870,000 (including Gift Aid) has been received. This is already higher than the 2006 total of £732,000 and money is still coming in steadily. Amongst all the doom and gloom isn't it great to hear some positive news?"
