Ted Foulkes, partner at the Devon law firm Tozers LLP, spoke to 75 delegates in the Ballroom at Oldway Mansion in Paignton on 28 September 2010 at the Mencap seminar on Wills and Trusts. As a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, Ted has been advising clients on Wills and Trusts for nearly 40 years. Ted explained at the seminar how to set up a Trust for a person with learning disabilities so that it will not affect their benefits.

Tozers specialises in drawing up Wills and Discretionary Trusts in these circumstances and is on Mencap's list of recommended advisers. Ted, along with fellow partners at Tozers, is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and he comments: "It is vital if you care for a vulnerable family member that you make a Will and preferably a Trust to safeguard them when you are gone."
