Devon branch of ILEX charity present cheque to children's charity

Following their successful launch in November 2009 and their even more successful black tie social event at the Devon Hotel in Exeter on Saturday 11th September, the Devon branch of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) are continuing to grow and attract new members.

During the Autumn Ball, which was attended by 82 people including members of the branch and guests from ILEX head office and the local legal community, a raffle was drawn to raise funds for the ILEX Benevolent Fund and the NSPCC and a total of £400 was raised. This was followed by an auction of an evening cruise on the river Dart on the boat 'Fairmile' which was kindly donated by Greenway Ferry Torquay and this raised a further £600 for the charities.

Committee members, Donna Hart and Oliver Thorne, pictured below presented a cheque, in the sum of £600 to Carrie Cardale, NSPCC Corporate Fundraising Manager for the South West.  Oliver Thorne from Tozers LLP said, “The NSPCC is a very worthy charity and we are delighted to be able to present them with this cheque. A number of my colleagues at Tozers act for children who have suffered abuse, so I was delighted to hear that the NSPCC was our chosen charity.”

Carrie said: “We are very grateful to the Devon branch of ILEX for their donation, which will go towards the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal and help make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children.  Your support will enable us to expand the NSPCC’s vital helplines – ChildLine for children and young people and the NSPCC Helpline for adults who are concerned about a child.  If you would like details about ways in which you or your business can support the NSPCC in the South West, please call the fundraising team on Freephone 0844 892 0562 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
