Rosemoor Reborn - a talk by former Curator Chris Bailes

Chris Bailes, the celebrated horticulturalist, author and designer of RHS Rosemoor will be giving an enlightening talk for ELF on Saturday 12th March, which is being sponsored by Tozers Solicitors.

Starting at 2:30pm, the talk will be held at Budleigh Salterton Public Hall with refreshments and raffle. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased from the ELF Office on 01392 493344 or at good garden centres.

Noel Allen, ELF Supporter & Exmouth Garden Club Chair said, "Chris Bailes is an outstanding gardener. His 22 years at the helm of RHS Rosemoor has been a wonderful journey, taking the original 8 acres increasing it to 65 acres and is now considered to be the Wisley of the West. Chris continues to inspire and enthuse the many hundred of visitors to Rosemoor and those who have heard his lectures. His obvious enthusiasm and wide gardening interests should make for a very enjoyable afternoon."

Chris studied and worked at Kew Gardens as Supervisor in the Tropical Section before managing the Eric Young Orchid Foundation on Jersey. In 1988 he became the curator of Rosemoor before leaving in October 2010.

Vernon Clarke, Head of Private Client at Tozers LLP comments, "As a past visitor to Rosemoor and as a Trustee of a horticultural charity for the disabled, I am very much looking forward to hearing Chris speak. Anything which encourages people to take an interest in gardening is likely to be good for Devon's wildlife as far too many gardens in towns now are simply decked and paved over. I am therefore delighted that we as corporate sponsors of ELF have been able to sponsor this event and help to make it happen."
