Lawyers swing a club and put their oar in for charity

In support of FORCE cancer charity, trainee solicitor, Tim Watson, of Tozers LLP is undertaking to play five rounds of golf at Exeter Golf & Country Club in one day on 27 June 2011.  FORCE is Tozers LLP’s charity of the year and Tim approached Exeter Golf and Country Club regarding this fundraising venture as FORCE is their president’s charity of the year too.

Tim comments: “Exeter Golf and Country Club have been extremely accommodating in allowing me to play five rounds of golf in one day and commence play at 5.30am! It is particularly apt that FORCE is also Exeter Golf and Country Club’s charity of the year.  I am expecting to be making my way round their golf course for 15 hours, walking an estimated 20 miles in the process (taking into account the constant zigzagging from rough to rough) and, obviously, no buggies, trolleys or caddies are allowed.”

Tim Watson has set up a just giving page, where donations  can be made safely and securely online: http://www.justgiving.com/Tim-Watson3 and all donations are welcome, including plasters for the anticipated blisters!

A write up of this also appeared in the Express and Echo

In the same week, three other lawyers at Tozers LLP will be raising money for FORCE by rowing the length of a marathon on rowing machines outside Tozers LLP’s Exeter office, Broadwalk House on Southernhay West.

Trainee legal executives Oliver Thorne and Tim Davies and trainee solicitor Guy Cartwright will each be rowing 26.2 miles on Friday 1 July.  Oliver, 29, who lives in Bideford also rows for Appledore Gig Club.  Tim, 25, lives in Barnstaple and both men work in the medical negligence department at Tozers solicitors.  Guy, who is 27 and works in Tozers LLP’s commercial litigation department, suffered a serious ankle break 10 weeks ago but still anticipates completing the row for FORCE. To sponsor the trio visit www.justgiving.com/tozers-marathon-row.

Rachel Elliott, Tozers’ business development manager and a member of Tozer’s newly formed Corporate and Social Responsibility committee, comments: “I am delighted that so many of our staff have stepped up to the challenge of fundraising for FORCE and the sponsored activities taking place this week are a testament to the fitness of our trainees, particularly as one of them only came out of plaster six weeks ago!”
