Devon solicitors, Tozers LLP, are celebrating as they beat their last year's entry in legal directory - Chambers & Partners - with almost a third of their partners being classed as 'Leaders in their Field' by the legal bible.
Tim Dyde, Tony Mills, Endurance Arthur and Stuart Bramley have all been recognised as leaders in acting for clients who have suffered as a result of medical negligence. As Chambers says: "This team is known for its handling of birth injury litigation and child-related cases including cerebral palsy and Erb's palsy claims. The firm also deals with a wide range of other matters, including cancer treatment claims, fatal accidents and cosmetic surgery.
The team is headed by partner Tim Dyde. He is a registered general nurse and is noted for his extensive knowledge of medical issues. Endurance Arthur handles a wide variety of clinical negligence claims and has particular interest in brachial plexus palsy, cerebral palsy, and vascular and cardiac surgery. Stuart Bramley looks after fatal accident and infection cases. He has acted for both claimants and defendants and has a wealth of experience representing clients at inquests. Tony Mills has expertise in the areas of GP negligence, fatal accidents, inappropriate A&E treatment and birth injuries."
Tozers LLP's family law department are also celebrating as two of them have been nominated 'Leaders in their Field'. Tozers' family law partners have a longstanding reputation and have been recognised often over the years. Chambers UK comments on Tozers' family team: "Sources note that 'the standard of its partners is high.' Tozers has an established reputation for its childcare work, and also handles high net worth ancillary relief.
Senior partner Graham Bond comes highly recommended for his impressive expertise in the financial consequences of divorce and relationship breakdown. He is a trained collaborative lawyer and has handled a number of matters relating to cohabitation over the past year. Tony Wood 'is efficient and reliable, and has excellent knowledge of the law.' He heads the firm's newly established specialist publicly funded work team and is exceptionally skilled in public law proceedings, representing both children and guardians."
Richard King, Tozers' head of charities and schools, is delighted to be appearing in Chambers this year as a leader in his field. The 2012 edition states: "This 'amenable, accurate and approachable' team leaves clients with 'a favourable impression; it always provides clear and constructive advice that gets straight to the point.' Sources say the team is good to turn to 'when you have a sticky problem.' Its work over the last year has covered the establishment, restructuring, mergers and dissolution of charitable and non-profit organisations. The group also regularly works in conjunction with the firm's employment lawyers to advise on matters such as the dismissal of a charity fund-raising manager. Clients include Plymouth Diocesan Trust, Buckfast Abbey Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust and South West Adult Placement Scheme.
Clients appreciate team head Richard King's 'good understanding of the complexities of how charities operate.' His expertise covers property and trusts and he regularly handles work on behalf of charities and schools on a local, regional and national basis."
