Solicitors sculpture sand on Sunday

Devon solicitors, Tozers LLP, entered a team of lawyers into the UK National Sandcastle Competition on 8 July 2012 on Woolacombe beach in aid of North Devon Hospice. The hospice is a local charity providing specialist care and support to those with a life-threatening illness and to their loved ones, completely free of charge.

James Orpin (partner), Tim Watson (solicitor), Simon Mansfield (solicitor) and Michelle Beckett (senior paralegal) along with Tim's fiancée sculpted a pirate in the sand and they achieved 4th place in the competition, which is in its 17th year. The event also included a World Record attempt to build the most sandcastles in an hour, as well as live music and a beach BBQ.

Tim Watson, who lives in Barnstaple and put the team at Tozers together, comments: "The North Devon Hospice is such a good cause and the work they undertake makes a real difference to people's lives. Each year they put on this great event and I am glad the weather just about held off. There is obvious room for improvement in our team's construction skills but we look forward to returning next year. It was a cracking day out for all involved."

Further photos of the event also feature in This is North Devon.
