Jill Headford, partner at Tozers solicitors and Rachel Rowles Davis, planning solicitor, gave separate talks to around 50 attendees (on the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 and Houses in Multiple Occupation respectively).  One of the guests, Mike Clark of Francis Clark, said that the speakers provided “a very useful and clear exposition of complex issues.”

The talks were followed by a networking lunch. Matthew Jackson, commercial partner at Tozers who chaired the first meeting, comments: “The purpose of “BusinessWise”, the Tozers’ business club, is to provide a forum to discuss specific commercial topics of common interest and to share information on any other wider business issues our guests might have.  Meetings will be held quarterly at the Jurys Inn, Exeter and attendance is free of charge but places are limited and allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. The next meeting will be held on Friday, 24th September.”

Richard Thorneycroft, head of Commercial at Tozers, said: “We hope that the BusinessWise meetings will provide a useful opportunity for our guests to learn more about a particular subject and to network.  We are delighted with how well attended the first meeting was and the positive feedback we have received. And congratulations go to Gary Salter of Thompson Jenner who won the bottle of Champagne for achieving the top score in our World Cup Quiz!”
