Administration

The on-going economic problems have meant that company closures and administrations have hit the headlines in recent times, locally the most notable being Axminster Carpets. Administration provides struggling, and predominantly insolvent, companies the opportunity to restructure and/or realise their assets. An administrator is appointed to take over the running of the company in place of the directors. Once a company has been placed into administration, creditors are prevented from making claims against the company. Administration is designed to give companies a 'fighting chance' of turning things around whilst their debts are effectively put on hold.

Free Wills month

Sue Halfyard of the Tozers Teignmouth office and Sue Thulborn of our Newton Abbot office took part in the Free Wills Month Scheme which ran throughout October last year. Tozers agreed to waive their fees for preparing Wills and clients were asked to consider either making a gift or a donation to one of the ten charities behind the Scheme. Free Wills Month have confirmed that £4,192,557 future income was generated by the scheme and that Tozers contributed £92,400 towards that. The charities are RNLI, British Lung Foundation, Scope, WWf, GOSH, Guide Dogs, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, British Heart Foundation, The Children's Society and Blue Cross.

The Sues will be taking part again in the Scheme again this year which runs from the 1 to 31 October.

   

Solicitors start morning with bacon and egg butties for Hospiscare

HR Manager (Fiona Grafton-Smith), Chief Cashier (Lynda Richards), Paralegal (Nicola Rumsey) and Business Development Manager (Rachel Elliott) at Tozers Solicitors LLP arrived in work before 8am this morning to cook bacon and egg rolls and put on fresh coffee for their colleagues in aid of Hospiscare. Stuart Bramley and Tracy Lambert who are both partners at Tozers donated fresh eggs laid by their chickens. It was suggested to those who work in Tozers' Exeter office that they should not have breakfast at home but wait and buy it at work whilst supporting an excellent local charity.
