When holiday customers don’t pay…

In these straightened times, many holiday park owners are finding customers trying to wriggle out of paying for their holidays, by saying that the facilities weren’t as described, or that the bar closed too early, and sometimes the customer will even up and leave without paying in the hope that the park owner won’t go to the effort of chasing them for payment.

Approach a holiday park lawyer with the question of how to pursue a non-paying customer, and one of the first questions you are likely to be asked is whether you have an address for the customer. Trying to chase someone for payment without that key piece of information is likely to be extremely challenging, if not impossible – court papers can generally only be served on a person at a residential address – so taking an address ought to be at the very front of your mind when you (or your staff) take a booking.
