Advance decisions

Tozers offer considerable experience in drafting and advising upon Advance Decisions, previously called Advance Directives or Living Wills.  These set out your precise wishes about what medical treatment you will and will not allow if you ever reach a stage when you lack capacity to decide for yourself.  Unlike the Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney which aims to achieve the same objective but gives someone chosen by you the right to make those decisions on your behalf, the Advance Decision allows you to stipulate now the care and medical input you prefer and to forbid any treatment you do not want.

This is a complicated area of law and there are pitfalls in preparing an Advance Decision without professional help.  We can also advise about the difficult area of "end of life decisions", where those caring for you must decide what is in your best medical interests if you ever become gravely ill.
