Tozers LLP is a leading firm of solicitors with offices in Exeter, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot offering an extensive legal service to businesses and individuals both locally and nationally. We are recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK legal directories in a number of fields including our Social Housing practice.
What you’ll be doing
Your role as part of our busy Social Housing property team will be principally to provide support for our shared ownership team and to be trained up in the conveyancing process for such transactions. It will necessarily include becoming familiar with shared ownership leases and the conveyancing process. This will also include undertaking searches, making Land Registry applications, dealing with Stamp Duty Land Tax returns, undertaking legal research, communicating with clients and third parties, drafting basic sale and purchase documents and providing administrative support to the team.
What we’re looking for
You will need to be an effective communicator ensuring that all clients have the information they need. As well as being comfortable working collaboratively, you will also be able to work independently, at all times ensuring that the clients’ needs are paramount. A can do attitude is essential.
What you’ll have
Preference will be given to someone with previous residential conveyancing experience.
We are however open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are able to demonstrate a genuine interest in property law and who are willing to learn, flexible, very well organised with a ‘can-do’ attitude and an ability to work closely with team members.
A law degree or an A level (or equivalent) in Law are preferred but not essential. You may have had some previous legal work experience. Training will be provided and as your confidence builds you will work towards running your own case load.
What we have
We believe that our people are our most important asset, and are committed to supporting our teams, cultivating a healthy culture of challenge and expectation with support and care. We invest in our teams and our infrastructure to ensure that we attract and retain talented staff, and are committed to giving all colleagues the opportunity to reach their full potential, with a real focus on training and development.
