This legal vacancy opportunity is for a solicitor or chartered legal executive to join our Wealth Management team, on a full or part time basis, at our Exeter office in the heart of Devon. Our Wealth Management Team has built a strong reputation for advising families, including business-owners, farmers and high net worth individuals, with the most complex succession-planning needs. We are seeking a driven and ambitious lawyer to fill this solicitor or legal job role, helping us build on our reputation as well as develop their own legal career, in a supportive and energetic team. 

 

What you’ll be doing

We are a team renowned for our technical expertise and dedication to providing accurate, effective and pragmatic, solutions to our clients.

You will manage complex and high value estates requiring the successful application of Inheritance Tax reliefs and exemptions. This will include direct negotiations with HMRC to achieve the best results for our clients when necessary.  Advising families on the Inheritance Tax planning tools available to them will form part of your responsibilities. There will be a particular focus on assisting business owning families with the tax implications of passing their business down the generations, both generally and when crafting Wills and trusts for succession-planning.

You will be offered a high-quality, balanced and varied caseload from the outset, including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and the administration of our complex estates and establishment of lifetime trusts.

Undertaking the supervision of other lawyers within your team, with the aim of supporting them to provide the quality of advice and service we are known for, will be one of your ongoing responsibilities. 

You will also have the ability to help shape both your own legal career as well as the future of your team. Working directly with the Wealth Management Team Leader, Gráinne Staunton, and your fellow senior Wealth Management lawyers, you will provide input into the design and delivery of the growth plan for the team and initiatives to set the future direction of the department.

 

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate to fill this law job in Exeter, Devon will be a motivated lawyer who wants to take the next step in their career, building their future with us at Tozers. 

You will be a technically skilled solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive who, ideally, has already successfully achieved, or is working towards, a STEP Diploma qualification or equivalent.

You will have experience of, or a wish to step into, a supervisory role, and will be comfortable with other members of the team reporting directly to you in the first instance, but also in your ability to motivate and encourage those who work alongside you. 

You will have business development experience, or a willingness to get stuck in expand and develop our client base, helping to keep moving our team in the right direction for the future. 

You will be able to demonstrate a track record of meeting, or surpassing, the financial targets set for you or for your wider team, and a commercial approach to the work you carry out.

 

What you’ll have

You will be roughly 6+ years qualified with significant experience in Wealth Management work.

We are looking for someone with proven technical abilities and a track record of excellent client service. You will be dedicated, ambitious and willing to build your future with us. 

Excellent communication skills are expected along with an ability to demonstrate your strong client relationships.
