Over a fifth of our current partners joined Tozers as trainee solicitors so we understand that our graduates are the future of our firm and we are dedicated to ensuring their success. We aim to retain as many of our trainees as possible on qualification.
What will training with Tozers be like?
Training with Tozers will be both challenging and rewarding. Most trainees experience four key areas of law, spending six months on each. In whichever specialism you hope to develop a career, training with Tozers will give you the stimulating work and early responsibility needed to excel. You will be supported by our training partner, the partner who leads the team in which you are training and your ‘buddy’ who will help you with the basic questions that everyone has when starting a new role. We put your preferences and abilities at the heart of our training process and will be as flexible as we can to ensure that your training schedule is personalised to suit you.
What we are looking for?
We have maintained our position as one of the top ranked law firms in the South West by being thoughtful legal partners, ensuring that our clients are always our focus. To continue our success, we are looking for graduates who can put themselves in our clients’ shoes, understand the challenges they face and work with our clients to create effective, pragmatic solutions. We are looking for academically strong problem-solvers who communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
We prefer our applicants to have attained (or be expecting) a 2:1 or above at degree level. Ideally you will have achieved A, B, B or above at A-Level. We understand, however, that not everything goes according to plan! There is no perfect formula for a Tozers’ trainee and, in the end, what we look for is someone we think will adapt to the difficult job ahead of them and produce outstanding results. If you have not secured the grades we mention but still feel you have the drive and determination we need, get in touch. A bursary of £10,000 is available to successful training contract applicants who are yet to begin their legal practice course at the time of offer. Further details are available on request.
We have temporarily suspended our work experience programme. We will update this information when we restart the programme.
We offer work experience placements to give candidates an insight into what it is like working in a regional law practice. Placements will last for one week and are offered during February and July to candidates who can demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in law.
