Devon and Somerset Legal Society Annual Dinner and Legal Awards

We are delighted to announce that Tozers Solicitors LLP has been shortlisted for the DASLS Corporate and Social Responsibility Award 2017.

We have embraced the opportunity to give something back to the communities in which we work by supporting various charities in a variety of ways from volunteering to raising funds in as many creative and imaginative ways possible.

We have developed longstanding relationships with many charitable organisations where we offer ongoing support but we also choose a charity as our main focus of support each year.  Throughout 2016 we supported Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

The first initiative for ELF was to create the £50 challenge. The objective was to come up with the most profitable venture and therefore raise the most money for ELF.

Ideas included setting up a tuck shop; holding an indoor summer fête; holding an online auction for items such as a week in a holiday home or a day’s fishing; a charity shop take-over day; a sunflower growing competition; a speed quizzing lunch; a Tozers’ bake-off; bucket shaking and bag packing at M&S; a Wimbledon sweepstake and a marathon 40 mile run/cycle/walk between our three offices in Exeter, Newton Abbot and Teignmouth by two staff from our Residential Property team who contributed over £600 in sponsorship towards the £7,071.18 so far raised for ELF.  Two members of staff participated in the Rock Solid 10k race and a member of staff from our Clinical Negligence department ran the half marathon in Cheltenham which raised £260.50 for ELF.

The Chief Executive for ELF, Mags Naylor has recently expressed her gratitude for Tozers’ fundraising efforts: “Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) has massively benefitted from the support of Tozers over the past year and it has been a real pleasure to work with them.  The money the staff team has raised has helped to fund the building of the ELF Family Suite at the RD&E which will enable terminally ill patients to be together with their loved ones when it matters the most.  We found that partners and other staff got really behind the cause and were innovative and enthusiastic in their fundraising.  On top of that, many staff volunteered for the charity in various ways such as doing bucket collections and also helping the charity to organise its annual Ball.  It was great to have the help of professional, friendly and motivated people.”

In Tozers LLP, CSR is not limited to fundraising.  Two days per year can be taken to volunteer with a registered charity other than the one the firm is supporting.  Six of our staff are school governors and some are trustees for charities including Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) and Headway.  In addition we participate in writing wills in return for donations to Will Aid charities ( such as ELF and DWT.

Other charities we have supported as part of the firm’s CSR ventures include:
• Rowcroft Hospice
• FORCE Cancer charity
• Splitz Support Services
• The Access to Justice Foundation
• Erb’s Palsy Group
• Devon Air Ambulance Trust
• Devon Wildlife Trust
• Great West Run
• Emmaus
• Group B Strep Support
• HCPT West Country
• Headway Devon
• Hospiscare
• The Royal British Legion
• Will Aid
