Ending an Assured Shorthold Tenancy – change is coming

On 1 October 2015 the Assured Shorthold Tenancy Notices and Prescribed Requirements (England) Regulations 2015 (“the Regulations”) will come into force. The Regulations will place additional obligations on Park Owners who let residential mobile homes under an assured shorthold tenancy (“AST”).

The additional obligations being introduced on 1 October 2015 include:

  1. The requirement to use a prescribed government form when ending certain types of ASTs.
  2. The requirement to provide tenants with specific information such as a copy of the gas safety certificate and a government form known as ‘How to rent’.

These requirements do not apply to mobile homes occupied under a Mobile Homes Act 1983 agreement or any other type of agreement which is not an AST. The requirements will only apply in England.
