Erb’s Palsy Group to Hold Fundraising Ball for 25th Anniversary
The Erb’s Palsy Group are celebrating their 25th Silver Anniversary this year with a glittering fundraising Ball on Saturday 20 October at the Marriott Hotel in Leeds. It should be a fabulous event for all with dinner, music, entertainment, and fundraising games and activities!
The Ball will be attended by around 150 members and supporters of the Charity including some of the founding members together with medical professionals and corporate sponsors. We are proud to have donated a raffle prize for the fundraising Ball of one day’s fly-fishing for trout (prize includes: fishing pass, permit, transport, packed lunch, equipment, and one night’s bed and breakfast accommodation).
The Charity began life as a support group in the early 90’s when a few families met at a specialist Erb’s Palsy treatment clinic in London. In 1994 the group appeared on the Lorraine Kelly show on GMTV and overnight the membership increased six-fold. There are now over 1700 members.
Erb’s Palsy also known as Brachial Plexus Palsy is a physical condition involving partial or complete paralysis of the arm. It is usually caused through trauma to the nerves in the neck and often to an infant during birth.
Tozers have worked closely with and have supported the charity for the majority of those 25 years. We are delighted that 9 lawyers from their Clinical Negligence Team will be attending the Ball together with partners and guests. Endurance Arthur, joint head of the Clinical Negligence team said:
“It has been a pleasure for Tozers to be part of the EPG’s journey. We are looking forward to catching up with the current and former trustees, treating clinicians and expert witnesses at the Ball. Most of all, we cannot wait to see some of our former clients, now all grown up and with families of their own”.
The Erb’s Palsy Group, who are run by a Board of volunteer Trustees and supporters, have offered invaluable advice, information and support to families affected by Erb’s Palsy over the last 25 years. Their aim is to increase awareness and promote better understanding of this condition. The group strives to reduce incidence rates through education and training of the medical profession but also to promote better treatment, by early referral to specialist centres. As a Charity they rely entirely on donations and grants and the incredible fundraising efforts of their members. If you would like more information their website address is set out below.
Tozers are the leading medical negligence solicitors in the country in Erb’s Palsy claims having conducted over 260 claims in the last 20+ years.
