Exeter’s Great West Run sponsored by Tozers Solicitors LLP
Tozers Solicitors LLP sponsored Exeter’s 30th Great West Run on 19 October 2014. At 9am on Sunday approximately 2,700 runners set off on their half-marathon run. Kitted out in Tozers trademark purple running vests, 20 runners for the law firm ran the 13.1 mile race.
Tom Merson of Bristol & West AC won Exeter’s Great West Run and Hannah Brooks of Crawley AC was the first female finisher. Their times were 01:09:18 and 01:21:40 respectively.
The Tozers’ team also included family and friends of those who work for the firm of solicitors and the first to cross the line for Tozers was Freddie Beard in a time of 01:27:30. His sister, Florence Beard, was the first woman to finish for Tozers and her time was 01:39:47. Tony Beard, their father, a retired Tozers partner who now works as a consultant solicitor for the law firm also completed Exeter’s Great West Run on Sunday –his first half-marathon – in a very creditable time of 02:12:09.
The first male member of staff to cross the line for Tozers was Matt Andrews, who works in the firm’s accounts department and who completed the race in 01:43:00. The first female member of staff home for Tozers was the firm’s marketing executive, Sarah Bott, who finished the race in 01:56:40. Many congratulations must also go to the other Tozers’ runners namely: Stuart Bramley; Tracey Bridgwater; Felicity Clarke; Sam Grundy; Chris Hansford; Sarah Hansford; Deema Iskander; Tracy Lambert; Jenny Lloyd; Hope Ritchie; Lesley Sanger-Anderson; Matthew Scott Tucker; Olivia Selley and Rebecca Wyld.
The runners at Tozers have raised over £1,500 in sponsorship for Devon Air Ambulance (DAAT) by taking part in Exeter’s Great West Run. Jill Headford, partner at Tozers and who presented the prizes on the day to the men and women who came first, second and third in the run, said: “For Tozers Solicitors, it has been tremendous that Devon Air Ambulance has become the Great West Run’s official local charity partner this year as they are also our charity of the year. It was fantastic to see so many running in support of such a worthwhile charity and raising vital funds to keep our Devon Air Ambulances flying.”
