Important changes to driver CPC exemptions

Under EU regulations, drivers without a certificate of professional competence (CPC) can now drive empty vehicles further afield without a valid CPC.

The old regulations used to permit empty vehicles to be driven within a 50 km radius from the operator. They can now be driven anywhere within a 100 km radius. This might mean that some mechanics and valets who previously needed a CPC are now exempt giving operators a wider choice of providers of essential maintenance and cleaning services.

Financial standing

Another important change is to financial standing (the impact of which has now been reduced by a strengthening in the pound against the euro). The required amount per vehicle has fallen to £6,650.00 for the first vehicle and £3,700.00 for each additional vehicle.
