Keeping Gas Safe

The Health and Safety Executive has recently reported on an unregistered gas fitter who was prosecuted for carrying out illegal gas work which was later found to be unsafe. Park owners will be well aware that anyone employed to carry out work on gas installations on the park must be suitably qualified and Gas Safe Registered.

This prosecution is a reminder for Park owners that they should ensure their staff are familiar with the requirement for anyone working on gas installations on the park to be Gas Safe Registered, that they make the appropriate checks when employing contractors on the park and wherever possible that they get a gas safety certificate for any work carried out on the park with a copy of this certificate kept on file.

If they have not done so already, Park Owners may wish to consider introducing park rules requiring that owners of park homes and holiday caravans provide them with evidence that anyone carrying out gas works on the park is suitably qualified, in order to maintain a safe environment on the park.
