Limits on Tribunal Awards and Statutory Payments to Increase from April 2016.
From 06 April 2016, the tribunal awards and statutory payments will increase from the current rates in accordance with The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2016:
- This maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will increase from £78,335 to £78,962. In addition there is a basic award which is similar to that of a redundancy payment;
- The maximum amount of a week’s pay used to calculate statutory redundancy payments and additional awards including compensation for certain unfair dismissal claims rises from £475 to £479;
- The minimum amount of basic award of compensation for certain unfair dismissal claims (for example unfair dismissals for performing health and safety duties, unfair dismissals for being a Trade Union representative etc.) will increase from £5,807 to £5,853.
The new rates will apply where the effective date of termination of employment is on or after 06 April 2016.
