New Charities Safeguarding Measures Through Dedicated Fund

Three colourful chairs

In the week that safeguarding charity funds is in focus, it is perhaps not surprising that the Minister for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport has today announced a new dedicated fund designed to support the improvement of charities’ handling of safeguarding matters.

It is reported that up to £2m will be invested in projects, supported by The Big Lottery and the Charity Commission, to raise awareness of safeguarding within charities and provide guidance and training on how to deal with safeguarding issues.  The plans include developing digital solutions to enable clear and confidential reporting by charities and providing practical accessible guidance on what warrants a report and when it should be made.

The announcement comes off the back of the recent Safeguarding Summit held by the Government for organisations within the charitable sector and the consultation on a new code of ethics for charities.
