Expertise

“People who come to us for help and advice often do so at a very difficult time in their lives. They may have lost someone they love, or suffered a significant or even catastrophic injury and be faced with a lifelong disability. In my experience what they need in a lawyer is someone who will give them frank, clear and practical advice. Someone they can rely on to fight to obtain answers, recognition of what went wrong and ultimately the appropriate compensation to secure their future.”

Clair has been recognised in the Legal 500 2018 legal directory in which they describe Clair as “extremely intelligent, professional, effective, compassionate and personable

Clair is a ranked lawyer in the legal directory Chambers UK 2019. The 2019 edition says: “She is very efficient and capable in all that she does. She offers help, advice and a very caring, sympathetic ear and always goes above and beyond in her work duties.”

Clair qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and has acted for people at all stages of their lives, from infants and children right through to those in retirement. For those who have suffered injuries which range from a missed fracture to catastrophic brain damage. Her consistent, sympathetic and “human” approach puts her clients at ease, gains their trust, and helps to build a strong working relationship.

Notable cases:

  • Negotiating a settlement on behalf of a 16 year boy with a serious brachial plexus palsy (Erb’s Palsy). Damages £925,000.
  • Obtaining Judgment for a child who suffered a brain injury in addition to a brachial plexus injury as a consequence of mismanagement of his birth.  Damages are estimated to be 7 figures.
  • Securing damages of £215,000 for a lady who suffered neurological damage due to a delay in diagnosing cauda equina syndrome. Clair negotiated a settlement in a claim involving two separate Defendants without a formal admission of liability.
  • Acting in a claim against the MOD for failure to diagnose coronary artery disease in a RAF Warrant Officer who died in service on expedition following an heart attack. Substantial damages were secured for the officer’s widow.
  • Negotiating a settlement on behalf of two young boys in a claim against a GP in relation to prescribing errors, which it was alleged had caused their mother’s death.

Outside her work for the firm Clair is a Trustee of National Charity.

"From the moment I met you, I felt so confident in your ability as our legal expert but also was delighted to find that you are such a lovely person which made it an absolute pleasure having you at the helm, navigating our way through some pretty stormy seas. We have nothing but praise for the manner in which you conducted the case and I have already recommended you several times and will continue to do so going forward."
