Employer's Liability

Employer's Liability

Meeting on shop floor

When employees cause damage to a third party, the employer often has to pay.

Vicarious liability (as it is known) arises where there is a sufficient connection with the employment – crunch points often arise where there is a limited connection with work, e.g. at an office party or works event. Vicarious liability can arise even if the employer itself has committed no wrong, although there are steps an employer can take to prevent or limit liability.

Employer’s liability can arise in many other situations as well – please see our other website pages for other areas where claims may be brought.

We Advise On:

  • your liability for employees actions
  • steps to prevent claims
  • settling or dealing with claims brought against you
