We advise companies on their obligations under the Gambling Act 2005.
The Gambling Act
The Gambling Commission regulates all gaming, betting and lotteries (except for National Lottery and spread betting) in Great Britain.
The three objectives of the Gambling Act are as follows:
- Gambling must not be a source of crime and disorder or be associated with it
- Gambling must be conducted fairly and openly
- Gambling must not be used to exploit children or vulnerable persons.
In order to provide facilities for gambling in your premises your business may need to obtain an operating licence from the Gambling Commission as well as personal licences for individuals. Our licensing team can assist you with your application to the Gambling Commission as well as applications for premises licences under the Gambling Act e.g. for adult gaming centres.
