Pressure from Head-teachers appears to have sparked a U turn from the Secretary of State for Education on ‘forced’ academies

Whilst this change is not really a surprise given the strength of feeling in the education sector regarding the proposals, it is clear that under performing schools will still be required to become sponsored academies and schools considered ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ will be encouraged to form Multi Academy Trusts to support those schools.
