Radio drama’s storyline about domestic violence has led to calls to national helpline increasing by a fifth

The Archer’s storyline helps raise awareness of domestic violence and abuse and a huge £65,000 for the charity REFUGE.  The storyline has been unfolding over a number of months and in the midst of a new law relating to coercive controlling behaviour which has been introduced that criminalises extreme psychological and emotional abuse without a physical violence.  The story may also be responsible for a jump in calls made to domestic abuse helpline by over a fifth in a year.
