Septic Tank Discharges to Surface Water

Holiday and residential parks

In England, new rules are coming into force prohibiting having a septic tank discharging to surface water. Park owners with septic tanks discharging to surface water such as ditches, canals, rivers, lakes or any other type of watercourse will be required to upgrade or replace them in 2020.

The Government published guidance on 25 October 2019 recommending owners ensure they have alternative plans in place within a reasonable period of time which they say is typically 12 months.
