Shocking images of teenage meningitis patient released to promote awareness.

Tozers’ partner Stuart Bramley observes –

“These dreadful photographs illustrate the dangers of meningitis – and indeed meningococcal septicaemia, which carries similar effects. In the negligence claims I deal with it is often the early signs of the infection that have been missed. It is always astonishing how quickly the problems develop without timely antibiotic cover, yet there are still far too many cases where the symptoms are either overlooked or noted but mis-diagnosed. Poor Charlene Colechin is one example of what happens without swift intervention and her story highlights how often meningitis is wrongly thought to be flu or similar. In this case it was reported that ‘there were no marks’ however the skin blotches or spots can often be one of the last symptoms.

We do wish her as quick and as complete a recovery as is possible”.
