Smart Meters Bill 2017–19

The Smart Meters Bill 2017-19 passed its second reading in Parliament on 24 October 2017.

The Bill grants an extension of powers to the Secretary of State and the Data and Communications Company to oversee and monitor the rollout of Smart Meters across Great Britain. The Bill is being considered by the Public Bill Committee and is expected to be concluded by 30 November 2017.

This is part of the Government’s programme to ensure that all households and businesses in Great Britain have been offered a smart meter by the end of 2020.
