Team Tozers and the Commando Challenge

The partners at Tozers Solicitors LLP decided to nominate Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) as their charity of the year for 2014, not least because one of them had been previously airlifted as a result of an equestrian accident. On Saturday 6 September 2014, Sarah Bott; Samantha Grundy; Aimee Barnett; Matthew Andrews and Matthew Scott-Tucker took part in the 10k Commando Challenge on Woodbury Common and raised £434 between them in sponsorship for DAAT.

Sarah Bott, Marketing Executive at Tozers, comments: “I think I can say on behalf of Team Tozers, we all had a brilliant day raising money for Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Our legs are nicely dotted with bruises from dragging ourselves through the numerous gruelling obstacles, but the course was great fun and a fantastic team building event. We’re looking forward to mastering the 17k Endurance next year!”

Rachel Elliott, Business Development Manager at Tozers, who took photos of Team Tozers taking part in the Challenge and in the infamous ‘Sheep Dip’ where Competitors are pushed-pulled through one of two submerged two metre long tunnels, coming out the other side spouting much of the muddy water back out, and gasping for air says: “Having spent three hours on Saturday afternoon spectating the Commando Challenge, I can be left in no doubt as to how physically demanding the course is. Those taking part are running up and down hills on uneven ground interspersed with obstacles that I know from watching Royal Marines Commando School on television can phase the trainee marines! I saw much grit and determination from those taking part and it is marvellous that they all raised money for such a worthy charity.”

Tozers plans to raise more funds by writing Wills in National Air Ambulance week in return for a donation to DAAT (22-26 September). Tozers is also the headline sponsor of Exeter’s Great West Run on 19 October 2014 with DAAT being the official local charity of the run with a number of Tozers’ staff running in support of DAAT.
