Tozers kick-off sponsorship of two Exeter Chiefs’ players
We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of Exeter Chiefs’ players Olly Woodburn and James McRae. It’s a great chance for us to be supporting players at different stages in their career – Olly (27) – is an experienced winger whilst James (23) is a talented up and coming player. With Exeter Chiefs one of the most successful rugby teams in the country, it is a very exciting time to be supporting the club.
Currently in the midst of long pre-season training days, earlier this month Tozers’ partners Julia and Nick carried out a Q&A to get to know the players which we will share when the season starts. As the World Cup begins, here are some thoughts from the players on training when some of the team are away.
Some of the Chiefs are in Japan for the World Cup – what does this mean for the rest of the team? Does this allow opportunities for of the younger guys to get some game time perhaps?
Olly: Pre-season is always quite good. Everyone trains at the same time – especially when the internationals are gone, there are more opportunities. Especially with the world cup. Premiership means there are more opportunities for players. It’s good for the whole rugby top to bottom.
James: As a young player myself, Olly’s a lot more experienced than I am in terms of caps and game time, it’s certainly an area that young players target. In the off season, you can guarantee, none of them will be sitting around gaming, you know. They may be doing that in the evenings but before the season starts I was making sure I’ve got to be fit, I’ve got to be ready, because yeah, in a world cup year, it’s a chance that doesn’t come round very often and when a few people are away, you can just fill a few holes. And all it is really rugby, you’re kind of one persons’ injury away from a starting spot so you know, if you get an opportunity because of injury or because someone’s away at the world cup, it’s just about trying to take that.
We’d like to wish all of the Chiefs’ players well – whether in Japan for the World Cup or in the UK for pre-season training.
Remember to look out for our Q&A with James and Olly when the season gets started!
