Tozers Solicitors win DASLS award for their contributions to charitable and social responsibility

Partners and staff members from South West solicitors firm Tozers were delighted to have attended the Devon and Somerset Law Society legal awards on Friday 2nd March at Sandy Park.

We are now the proud new owners of a splendid glass trophy which was presented to us for winning in the corporate and social responsibility category of the DASLS awards.

The event is now in its second year and is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the achievements and contributions that law firms make to their local communities and the wider economy.

The Tozers team very much embrace the charitable and social responsibility element of our work and our staff have regular involvement with a number of charities and social enterprises. We also vote on a charity of the year and for 2016 Exeter Leukaemia Fund was selected. With the backing of 130 staff from the Exeter, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot offices we helped to fund a new family suite for Leukaemia patients on Yarty Ward at ELF’s headquarters. Our fundraising initiatives for this involved an office tuckshop, cake sales, “Tour de Tozers”, an auction and a quiz night. Staff also supported ELF by volunteering to do bucket collections, setting up a Charity Ball committee and taking over a charity shop for the day.

This year our charity of the year is Mind in Exeter and East Devon and we are looking forward to putting on regular fundraising activities to support this very worthy cause. We have already held an office pancake event and a book sale. There are also Quizzes, family fun days and sporting events in the pipeline.

We would like to thank The Devon and Somerset Law Society and Sandy Park for a wonderful Awards evening and dinner and also to congratulate our fellow legal winners and nominees!
