Tozers tops medical negligence rankings in 2017 legal directory

Devon law firm Tozers Solicitors LLP has been recognised as a Band 1 firm in the legal bible Chambers & Partners 2017 for its work in clinical negligence for claimants in Exeter and surrounds. Tozers is one of only two Devon firms in band 1 for this category.

This year’s edition of the legal directory, which was launched on 2 November 2016, describes Tozers’ clinical negligence team as a: “Highly regarded clinical negligence practice with a broad range of expertise, notably including Erb’s palsy cases. Also handles other complex claims including obstetrics and brain injury cases.”

With regard to Tozers’ strengths, a source was quoted as saying: “They are very caring and have good attention to detail. They are really what people need – someone that shows care for their family and is able to help them through the legal system and get a good result.”

Chambers & Partners 2017 goes on to say of Tozers’ notable clinical negligence practitioners and ranked lawyers:

“Endurance Arthur focuses her practice on birth injury claims. In addition, she handles complex spinal injury cases and other claims arising from negligent surgery.”

“Stuart Bramley is recognised for his expertise in complex clinical birth injury litigation, including Erb’s palsy cases. Other areas of strength include fatal accident claims and missed diagnosis cases.”

In other areas of the firm’s work, Richard King has been recognised as a Band 4 ranked lawyer for his work in Charities – UK-wide:

Richard King advises a wide range of charities on incorporation, constitutional and property matters. Sources say: “He dealt with every aspect of the process quickly and was very helpful in guiding the trustees through the process.”

The Social Housing team has been ranked in Band 3 for its work in the South West, Chambers & Partners 2017 comments that the team has a: “Strong reputation for expertise in employment matters within the social housing market with additional expertise in advising registered providers on housing management and property financing work.”

Stephen Burtchaell has been acknowledged as a notable practitioner and a ranked lawyer in this field:

Stephen Burtchaell “knows the sector inside out,” according to commentators. He wins praise for his counselling of registered providers on matters including property financing work.

The Family team has been ranked in Band 2 for its work in Exeter and surrounds, Chambers & Partners 2017 describe the team as “Highly skilled and experienced, acting on public children law matters and representing children and victims of domestic abuse. Also has a strong matrimonial team working on complicated financial remedy cases.”

Tracy Lambert, head of the team, has been recognised as a notable practitioner.
