Tozers tops medical negligence rankings in 2016 legal directory

Devon law firm, Tozers Solicitors LLP, has been recognised as a Band 1 firm in the legal bible Chambers & Partners 2016 for its work in clinical negligence for claimants in Exeter and surrounds. Tozers is one of two firms in band 1 for this category.

The legal directory, which was launched during the afternoon of 30 October 2015, describes Tozers’ clinical negligence team as a: “Distinguished firm offering market leading advice on Erb’s Palsy claims. Also renowned for its handling of cases arising from negligent surgery.”

With regard to Tozers’ strengths, a source was quoted as saying: “They have been simply marvellous.”

Chambers & Partners 2016 goes on to say of Tozers’ notable clinical negligence practitioners:

Endurance Arthur focuses on complex birth injury cases, as well as brain and spinal injuries caused by negligent surgery. A client applauds the fact that she “keeps you informed of any developments and contacts you right away” and adds that she is “never too busy and always helps you understand things.”

The “compassionate and patient” Stuart Bramley is able to draw upon his prior experience as a defendant lawyer to provide strategic litigation services, particularly in the field of delayed and missed cancer diagnosis cases. A client states that “had it not been for Stuart’s experience and insight, the trust in question would have got away with gross clinical negligence.”

In other areas of the firm’s work, Richard King has been recognised as a Band 3 ranked lawyer for his work in charities – UK-wide:

Richard King chairs the charities and schools practice at Tozers Solicitors LLP in Exeter, and recently advised on setting up the Blueprint Trust, tasked with improving the relationship between big business and wider society. One source comments: “I have found him learned, engaged and dogged.”

The Social Housing team has been ranked in Band 3 for its work in the South West with Stephen Burtchaell highlighted as a notable practitioner in this field:

Stephen Burtchaell is highly rated for his comprehensive knowledge of property law issues that are central to the operations of registered providers. One client says: “He has a good understanding of our needs and is able to advise on a wide range of issues. Stephen is not frightened to tell it how it is and explain the risks of a particular path.”
