Who are we looking for?
We are looking for academically strong problem-solvers who are flexible enough to find creative solutions and brave enough to step away from their comfort zone.  You must be an effective and accurate communicator both orally and in writing.

We view our trainee solicitors as the future of the firm and so we look for a genuine interest in and enthusiasm for Tozers.

Academic achievements
We prefer our applicants to have attained (or be expecting) a 2:1 or above at degree level.  Ideally you will have achieved A, B, B or above at A-Level.  We appreciate, however, that not everything goes according to plan!  There is no perfect formula for a Tozers’ trainee and, in the end, what we look for is someone we think will adapt to the difficult job ahead of them and produce outstanding results.  If you have not secured the grades we mention but still feel you have the drive and determination we need, get in touch.

We also welcome applications from people who may be looking to switch career paths.

What you can expect from us
Training with Tozers will be both challenging and rewarding.  You will be given early hands-on experience and will expected to take responsibility for matters, under supervision naturally.  We do not believe in hiding our trainee solicitors in a corner – we expect you to throw yourself into the challenge.

Most trainees experience four key areas of law, spending six months on each.  You will have regular contact with your supervisor to ensure that you are coping with the questions asked of you.

We will also be as flexible as we can to ensure that your training with us meets your particular needs and will ensure that we give you a personalised approach to your training schedule if needed.

You will be supported by our training partner, the partner who leads the team in which you are training and your ‘buddy’ who will help you with the basic questions that everyone has when joining a new office environment.

A bursary of £10,000 is available to trainees who are yet to begin their legal practice course at the time of offer. Further details available on request.

Our recruitment process for training contracts commencing in 2019, 2020 and 2021 is now closed. The next phase of recruitment is not now due to take place until the summer of 2020.
