Tozers appointed to HALA Legal Services Framework
Posted on in General, Affordable Housing
UK law firm Tozers has been appointed to the Housing Associations’ Legal Alliance (HALA) Legal Services Framework, strengthening its position as a leading legal adviser to registered providers.
The appointment will enable Tozers to expand its provision of legal services to HALA members, having secured places on Lot 3: Development and Lot 6: Employment.
Established in 2010, HALA members achieve greater value for money through the joint procurement of legal services, alongside the sharing of legal knowledge and best practice. The appointment to the HALA framework follows a competitive procurement process supported by Kennedy Cater, a specialist legal consultancy focused on the procurement and management of legal services. The framework runs to 18 October 2029 and has an estimated total value of £96 million.
Tozers' nationally recognised team will support HALA’s consortium of registered affordable housing providers at a time of renewed momentum across the sector, following the Government’s commitment to significant long-term investment in affordable housing.
Through the Development lot, Tozers will deliver specialist advice to HALA members, providing comprehensive support with affordable housing delivery, regeneration, planning, joint ventures, land acquisition & site assembly, infrastructure & S106 negotiations, and stock rationalisation and disposals.
Through the Employment lot, the firm will advise members on the workforce challenges accompanying growth and organisational change, including restructuring, talent retention, workforce transitions and employee relations, while helping organisations manage legal and reputational risk. This is a time of particular challenge for all employers, with multiple changes to employment law being made under the new Employment Rights Act, and Tozers looks forward to helping members navigate the new legislation successfully.
Stephen Jennings, Partner and Head of Employment at Tozers, said:
“We are really pleased to have been appointed to the HALA framework, especially at a time of particular change. We look forward to sharing the knowledge and experience we have gained over many years working with large and small housing associations across the country with HALA members”
Rachel Langley, Partner and Joint Head of Registered Providers and Development at Tozers, said:
“We are delighted to have been appointed to the HALA framework for both Development and Employment. This is a significant achievement for the team and reflects the depth of our experience supporting registered providers, as well as the breadth of expertise we can offer across the sector. We look forward to working with HALA members to support the delivery of much-needed affordable housing across the UK at a time of renewed optimism in the sector. The Social and Affordable Homes Programme provides a strong platform for growth, and we are excited to play our part in helping providers turn that investment into delivery.”
