Tozers is delighted to announce that Jessica Whittick has been shortlisted for Solicitor of the Year at the Devon and Somerset Legal Society Awards.
An Intellectual Property and Data Protection solicitor, Jessica has played a transformative role in strengthening the firm’s offering in these areas. Recognising a growing need among clients, she rapidly developed her expertise, introduced a targeted strategy and now leads both sub-teams, advising on high-risk and complex matters including data breaches, regulatory complaints and brand protection strategies.
Jessica’s work has already delivered significant results for clients. Her achievements include resolving an urgent intellectual property dispute that restored a client’s ability to trade within five weeks, developing the firm’s innovative Amazon IP Rescue framework to help businesses respond quickly to online infringement issues, and designing comprehensive trade mark strategies across multiple businesses. She is also regularly instructed on sensitive data protection matters, helping organisations navigate regulatory risk and avoid escalation.
Beyond client work, Jessica is a founding member of the firm’s EDI Network and leads discussions on neurodiversity initiatives. She has mentored aspiring lawyers for more than a decade and regularly supports university programmes and work experience placements.
Jessica is also one of the firm’s most visible community ambassadors, helping to drive Tozers’ partnership with Hospiscare through the Hospiscare 40 Club. Over three years, she has helped raise more than £14,200 through a wide range of events and initiatives, strengthening the firm’s community presence and supporting the charity during a challenging funding period.
Martin Laver, Partner and Head of Team, said:
“Jessica has achieved notable recognition both within the firm and externally for the quality and consistency of her professional work. She demonstrates a genuine and sustained commitment to our clients, consistently going the extra mile to ensure their interests are fully protected.
Jessica has been instrumental in developing our Intellectual Property advice and litigation work and has forged strong links with referrers across the firm and beyond. Beyond her technical and business development abilities, Jessica has provided meaningful support and inspiration to colleagues through her professionalism, approachability and willingness to share her expertise.
I have also been particularly impressed by her dedication to the community, including her involvement in charitable initiatives. I don’t think there is a business in the South West of England that Jessica hasn’t been contacted for support for a charity quiz or event!”
Everyone at Tozers congratulates Jessica on this well-deserved recognition and wishes her the very best of luck at the awards ceremony on 18th June 2026.
