Bea is a Solicitor and advises clients across a variety of family law matters, including divorce and civil partnership dissolution, financial remedies and assisting with arrangements relating to children following separation.

Advising clients both inside and outside of Court proceedings, Bea works closely with her clients to ensure their interests are protected. She recognises that clients will often have personal and sensitive matters to address and takes an empathetic approach in her work. Bea’s main objective is to help navigate clients through the difficulties they are facing to work towards a resolution that will enable them to move on with their lives.

Bea joined Tozers in the Summer of 2019, after having studied Criminology and Law at the University of the West of England and the Graduate Law Course at Exeter University achieving First Class Honours. She completed her LPC LLM with the University of Law in Exeter with a distinction. Bea qualified as a Solicitor in January 2022. Bea joined the Devon YRes Committee in January 2024 supporting young professionals working within Family Law.

Recent cases:

Advising a wife as to her financial claims after a long marriage in circumstances where both wife and husband had mutually agreed a division of assets that did not take into account her husband’s significant pension provision. Providing advice to wife enabling the parties to reach an agreement providing wife with a lump sum and significantly increased pension pot.

Advising a wife in divorce and financial remedy proceedings where husband refused to engage. Successfully obtaining an order providing for the wife and children to remain living in the family home until a triggering event at which point if wife was able to release husband from the mortgage the property would be transferred to her, or the property would be sold and wife would retain 100% of the proceeds. Costs orders granted in wife’s favour.

Advising a mother in respect of arrangements for children where father instigated Children Act proceedings following the end of the marriage involving years of emotional abuse. Securing a Lives With Order for the mother providing for the children to remain living with her and spend specified time with the father.

Open Reporting in Family Courts – An Update

From Monday 27th January 2025 the Family Courts opened their reporting provisions across England and Wales. These changes will enable accredited journalists and legal bloggers to apply for a transparency order and, if granted, they can attend hearings and report on them whilst also protecting the anonymity of the families involved.
