If you’re concerned about meeting your future care needs, or those of a loved one, especially from a financial perspective, we’re here to help. With an ageing population, we understand that these concerns are often on people’s minds and can be a source of worry.
How is care funded?
If you, or someone close to you, needs ongoing care in the future, care fees may be paid by the Local Authority or by the NHS in certain situations. If available, NHS funding will even apply regardless of the amount of money you have, but, with budget cuts and stretched resources on their plate, the NHS assessment can be applied stringently. If NHS funding does not apply, you or your family member may be assessed to see if you need to contribute to the fees, but there are various exceptions and exemptions to this. It can feel like a confusing situation!
