Academy conversions and re-brokering

Our team of experienced lawyers can assist and advise you on all aspects of forming partnerships with other schools, from informal collaborations to multi academy trusts.

We want to help you maximise the opportunities that might be on offer, assisting with all aspects of the process, not just on the mechanics of academy conversion but also support in delivering your vision and dealing with day to day matters post conversion.

Applying our experience to your situation

We have experience of trusts of all sizes and were responsible for what, at the time, was the biggest simultaneous conversion of 36 schools into a multi academy trust.  We offer practical and pragmatic advice to schools who are considering conversion and to established multi academy trusts who are looking at opportunities to engage with other schools.

If you have been approached by the Regional Schools Commissioner to either accept a school into your trust or to transfer a school to another we are here to help. We know that the circumstances surrounding the approach will be different in each case and the options need to be considered carefully.

Early advice

We will work with the board of directors to review the key points before committing to a re- brokering. The outcome of any re-brokering or transfer must be the provision of good quality education for the children involved making it important that matters such as alignment of values and ethos, financial impact, the review of due diligence information and capacity for improvement within the trust are all looked at carefully.
