New Partner Josh Gilbert joins Tozers Rural Property team

We are delighted to announce that Josh Gilbert has joined our growing rural property team at Tozers LLP. He has been appointed as the fourth partner in the team alongside Vernon Clarke and Kate Bolt in Exeter and Mark Meleady based in Newton Abbot.

Josh has extensive experience in dealing with rural property matters including farms & estates, country houses and agricultural tenancies. At Tozers, his key focus will be on rural property work in both the private and commercial spheres as well as working with holiday parks and leisure businesses.

Josh enjoys making sure that his clients receive the best strategic advice for their particular situation and that their property transactions are run as efficiently as possible.  He strives to be highly responsive to the specific needs and concerns of clients.

He is described by clients as “having a calm, practical manner” as well as being “proactive, solution oriented, easy to deal with and always representing our interest”.

Having studied Law at Oxford and qualified from the University of Law at Bristol in 2015, Josh went on to spend five years working in Bristol where he completed his training and qualified to work with an agricultural property team. During this time he was also seconded to the legal team at The Crown Estate. Josh then worked in Bath for a further four years where he deepened his experience in general commercial property and residential property.

Highlights of Josh’s career to date include a wide range of transactions. Particularly notable is the sale of a holiday lettings business, house and rural land for £2.5m and the subsequent purchase of a new home as well as working with a landowner on planning agreements and on the eventual sale of promoted development land for circa £3m. Josh also acted on the sale of a complex estate with a full spectrum of residential, commercial, agricultural and sporting interests for a high-profile client for circa £15m where he successfully achieved exchange within 14 days of the issue of heads of terms.

Vernon Clarke, Partner says: “Josh will make a fantastic addition to the team and the partnership. His depth of experience in rural property work will further strengthen the service that we are able to provide our clients in this area.”
