New Consultant Joins Family Team at Tozers

Tozers is pleased to announce that David Cobern has joined the firm as a Consultant in the Family team. David is a specialist in advising unmarried couples on various aspects of their relationship, such as cohabitation agreements, pre-nuptial agreements, and separation rights.

David has extensive experience in dealing with complex and sensitive issues that arise when unmarried couples separate, such as property division, financial provision for children, and disputes over ownership or entitlement. He has an in-depth knowledge of family law and the specific rights of unmarried people, which is a growing and evolving area of law.

Friendly, Realistic, and Constructive

David is known for his friendly and approachable manner, his realistic and common-sense advice, and his commercial and tactical awareness. He prides himself on his attention to detail and his ability to work constructively with other lawyers, whether they represent the other party or not. He also promotes all forms of alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and arbitration, as a way to avoid the stress and cost of court proceedings. However, he is also ready to litigate when necessary, and he understands the needs and vulnerabilities of his clients.

A Long Career in Family Law

David has been working in the field of family law for almost his entire professional career, and he has developed a particular interest and expertise in the rights of unmarried couples. He is a member of Resolution, a national organisation of family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. He is also a regular contributor to various publications and blogs on family law topics.

David said: “Without specialist help and early intervention, some unmarried people leaving long term relationships are at significant risk of an unfair outcome. My experience working in family law, but with a background in civil litigation, gives me insight into the issues affecting this growing section of the population. I consider it a privilege to represent people who, without my assistance would either leave relationships with nothing or a inadequate settlement after (in many cases) years of contributions to the welfare of their families.”

He adds: “I am thrilled to join Tozers, which has a reputation for excellence and innovation in family law. I look forward to working with the talented and dedicated team here, and to providing high-quality and personalised service to our clients.”

Caroline Ryan, Head of the Private Family law team said: “We are very pleased to welcome David to the team and firm. He is a highly skilled and experienced family lawyer, who will enhance our offering to unmarried couples, who are a growing and often overlooked segment of the population. David’s arrival demonstrates our commitment to providing comprehensive and tailored solutions to our clients’ family law needs.”

Tozers is delighted to welcome David to the Family team and looks forward to working with him to provide the best possible service to our clients.
